featuring gorgeous landscapes and a comfortable blend of small town charm and big city amenities, North Royalton is among the most attractive family communities in Northeast Ohio. With convenient access to major highways, the community of about 33,000 residents is ideal for both residents and businesses.
Recreational activities and park space, which are so important to families of North Royalton, have expanded over the past couple years. Along with the addition of new athletic fields, the city recently added a new 15-acre park area in the heart of town. The new Elek Springs Park will be maintained in its natural state with walking trails, a community garden and natural springs. The local parks supplement the Cleveland Metroparks Mill Stream Run Reservation, which bisects the town. Mayor Robert Stefanik says North Royalton has retained its neighborly atmosphere while offering the conveniences of the city. “We still have the old hardware store, tailor shops and a shoe repair shop,” the mayor says. “We have a mix of chain stores and individually-owned stores and restaurants. Anything you need is just a short distance away. From any place in the city, you can jump in the car and be in the Metroparks within five minutes.” Founded in 1818, the Township of Royalton was named after the Vermont home of Knight Sprague, an early settler. Following the name change to North Royalton in the 1880s, the township became a village in 1927, according to the North Royalton Chamber of Commerce. The village became a city in 1961.Comprised nearly of nearly 22 square miles of scenic, rolling land, North Royalton is now the third largest city in Cuyahoga County in terms of area. The city continues to grow due to the infusion of families who seek a safe, friendly community with top rated schools. With the city already a leading destination for families, the city is focusing more attention than ever to attracting businesses. “We offer a lot of advantages to businesses,” Stefanik says. “Foremost is our strategic location between I-77 and I-71 and our proximity to the Ohio Turnpike as well. Three major highways connect us with the entire country. The York Alpha Industrial Park is open for business and we are motivated to fill it. We offer all the amenities and utilities along with very attractive incentives.”
