he Department of Public Safety in North Royalton is comprised of Divisions of the Police Department, Fire Department, Dispatch Center, Animal Control, and a full-service Jail Facility. Director Bruce G. Campbell provides the executive leadership over all divisions within Public Safety.

The North Royalton Fire Department, under the leadership of Chief Michael Fabish, is comprised of 36 full-time fire fighters and officers. All full-time members are State Certified Emergency Medical Technicians and 26 have received state and national certification as Paramedics enabling them to provide advanced life saving skills to the community. Our Paramedics receive some of the most advanced training available provided through our Medical Control at Parma Community Hospital. The Department is also able to provide special rescue services such as HazMat, Technical Rescue, Fire Investigation, and Tactical Paramedics through (SERT) the Southwest Emergency Response Team. As part of our community programming, our Paramedics can provide C.P.R. and A.E.D. Heart Saver classes to our citizens for a nominal fee. The department, which operates two stations, has three fire engines, three rescue squads and two multi-purpose utility vehicles. 

The North Royalton Police Department, under the direction of Chief Paul M. Bican, prides itself on its responsiveness and many proactive, cooperative efforts undertaken with the community to ensure the safety and security of our residents. The department’s Traffic Unit has been repeatedly recognized by AAA and by Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital for their outstanding work in the area of motorist and pedestrian safety. The unit also is involved in teaching safety programs, including third grade seat belt classes, government classes, Safety Town and participating in career days at the schools. The Department deploys a full time School Resource Officer (SRO) who is assigned to the High School and Middle School. The SRO also provides education and training in the areas of peer pressure, bullying, drugs and alcohol, and making the right choices to our children. The Department also has a Detective Bureau that provides crime scene investigation and follow-up investigation on all crimes and also includes a division specifically devoted to juvenile crime investigation and prevention. The Department is able to provide a Tactical Response Unit, Drug Enforcement Unit and Bomb Disposal Unit through the Southwest Enforcement Bureau (SEB).
