ith parents and community volunteers leading the way, North Royalton has a strong tradition of youth sports. The city’s youth baseball program, run by the North Royalton Baseball Boosters, has 2,200 participants every year, says Mayor Bob Stefanik. The city also boasts a highly popular soccer league, managed by the North Royalton Soccer Club (NRSC), which draws as many as 1,200 kids annually between the ages of four and 14.
We also have a very strong peewee football program through the Southern Hills Youth Football league. The city’s youth sports programs utilize public fields that are maintained by the city, but are otherwise self-sustaining, relying on registration fees and sponsorships.

North Royalton’s recreation facilities include four parks, eight baseball diamonds, with a new, large diamond at York and Rt. 82, four soccer fields and three tennis courts, says Ed Swim, the Parks and Recreation Director. Some of our events are the Summer Fun program, which includes a Kids Dog Show and the annual Fishing Derby. The Annual George Modock Jr. Memorial Fishing Derby, in its sixth year, will take place on Friday, July 17 from 10am to 12:15pm and is for ages 7-15. It will be held at Memorial Park in the Lower Pavilion and there will be prizes for 3 age categories, generously donated by Mrs. George Modock Jr. We also have golf lessons being held at Mr. Divots, 13393 York Road, beginning Wednesday, June 3rd. Lessons for ages 6-14 are from 5-6pm and adult lessons are from 6-7pm. The cost for 6 sessions is $40 and does not include range balls. The space is limited, so don’t delay!

And don’t forget the annual 5K Run, which will be held on November 1st this year. For any questions or more information, please call the recreation department at 440-237-5646. And as an added bonus, the Cleveland Metroparks run through the southern part of the city, which we are all fortunate to enjoy!
